Celecoxib works by blocking the activity of the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are the primary messengers in the body. This inhibition leads to a decrease in prostaglandin synthesis, which in turn reduces fever and pain. Celecoxib has a similar action to ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation and fever.
Who Can Take Celecoxib?
Celecoxib should be used only when prescribed by a doctor. Do not take aspirin or other NSAID medicines unless directed by a healthcare provider.

How Long Does Celecoxib Take to Work?
